Decatur – E. Eugene Marshall, 84 of Decatur passed away at 12:05 p.m. December 14, 2010 in McKinley Court Nursing Home.

 

Memorial service will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday December 18, 2010 at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till service time at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Warrensburg Fire Department (EMT).  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

 

Eugene was born May 11, 1926 in Illini Township, IL the son of John Emerson and Adelaide Betsy (Gilman) Marshall.  He married Shirley Bromley on May 28, 1949.  He was a retired farmer.  He was also a retired insurance agent of Prairieland Mutual Insurance and Agri Serve Crop Hail Insurance.  He formerly had served on the board of directors and as treasurer of Prairieland Mutual Insurance Company. He was an US Army WWII Veteran having been a Requisition Clerk at the Port of Yokahama, Japan.

 

Surviving is his wife: Shirley of Decatur, daughters: Gloria Jean Reese and her husband Thomas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Patricia Ann Slenn and her husband Walter of St. Charles, IL, and Nancy Jane Boland and her husband Charles of Oakley; sister: Marian Oliver of Harristown; grandsons: Jeffery Michael Slenn and his wife Andrea of Cortland, IL, Andrew Marshall Slenn of St. Charles, IL; step grandson Scott Boland of Milwaukee, WI; step granddaughter: Kimberly Garrett of Austin, TX and step great-granddaughter: Megan Garrett of Austin, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Patricia Marshall and Harriett Oxley, and brothers-in-law: Leo Oliver and A. Jack Oxley.
